The Toronto Raptors were swept out of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in this season’s past playoffs. They were poised to making a statement in the East as mid-season trades brought in Serge Ibaka from the Orlando Magic and P.J. Tucker from the Suns. The offseason loomed with Ibaka and Kyle Lowry as free agents. As the Raptors season ended Lowry announced that he would opt out of his current deal to become a free agent in July.
The Raptors secured two of their starters in the opening weekend of free agency.

Kyle Lowry took a different approach in announcing his return to Toronto. Lowry took to The Players’ Tribune to confirm that he will be returning to “the 6”. The All-Star guard is reportedly signing a deal worth $100 million over three years.
