NFL Week 17 – Playoff Clinching Scenarios
The second season of 17 games has come upon us. There will be one more week (Week 18) but this weekend’s NFL Week 17 playoff-clinching scenarios guide is here!
Which teams clinched the playoffs?
In the AFC the following teams will be playing in the 2022 NFL Season Playoffs:
- Buffalo Bills (12-3): will clinch AFC first-round bye with Week 17 win + KC loss
- Kansas City Chiefs (12-3)
- Cincinnati Bengals (11-4): will clinch AFC North with Week 17 win + BAL loss or Tie OR CIN Week 17 tie + BAL loss
- Baltimore Ravens (10-5)
- Los Angeles Chargers (9-6)
AFC – IN THE HUNT WEEK 17 PLAYOFF-CLINCHING SCENARIOS
Jacksonville Jaguars (7-8): Scenarios to clinch the playoffs (Week 17: @ Houston Texans)
- The Jaguars beat the Texans on Sunday then lose to the Titans in Week 18
- The Dolphins lose to the Patriots in Week 17 and the Jets in Week 18
- The Jets lose at the Seahawks in Week 17
- The Bills beat the Patriots in Week 18
- The Steelers lose at the Ravens in Week 17 and at home against the Browns in Week 18
- Then the Jaguars would be the seventh seed in the AFC playoffs as a wild card team with a record of 8-9 and would face the number two seed, likely the Chiefs or Bills.
- If the Jaguars and Titans enter the final week with the same record and the final game ends in a tie, the Jaguars would win because of a better head-to-head record against the Titans.
Miami Dolphins (8-7): Scenarios to clinch the playoffs (Week 17: at New England Patriots)
- The Dolphins beat the Patriots in Week 17 and the New York Jets lose or tie in Week 17
- The Dolphins tie the Patriots in Week 17 and the New York Jets loses + The Steelers lose or tie in Week 17
In the NFC the following teams will be playing in the 2022 NFL Playoffs
- Philadelphia Eagles (13-2): will clinch NFC East title with PHI win or PHI tie + MIN loss or Tie OR DAL loss or Tie + MIN loss + SF loss or tie
- Minnesota Vikings (12-3)
- San Francisco 49ers (11-4)
- Dallas Cowboys (11-4)
NFC – IN THE HUNT WEEK 17 PLAYOFF CLINCHING SCENARIOS
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8): Scenarios to clinch the playoffs (Week 17: vs Carolina Panthers)
- The Buccaneers beat the Panthers in Week 17 (also will win the division title)
New York Giants (8-6-1): Scenarios to clinch the playoffs (Week 17: vs Indianapolis Colts)
