Kyrie Irving will miss the rest of the season and playoffs

The Boston Celtics have announced that Kyrie Irving is officially ruled out from the rest of the regular season and playoffs. Irving underwent a minimal knee surgery on March 24th to help reduce swelling.

According to the press release Irving is now expected out 4-5 months as he will not have two screw removed to avoid further infection in his left patella. The Celtics are currently in the second seed in the Eastern Conference (53-25).

The announcement on Thursday rules the All-Star guard alongside Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart both out of action for a Celtic team expected to contend for a championship this season.
