Out goes Blake Griffin for the Los Angeles Clippers and in comes Ruby Gobert for the Utah Jazz. After missing game two and three with an injury Gobert returned to the starting line-up for the Jazz. He would would finish with 15 points and 13 rebounds. In their first game after loosing Griffin to a season ending toe injury the Clippers would struggle to score in the paint as a team they were outscored 58-36.
Gordon Hayward would not finish the game as he was suffering with an illness reported as food poisoning by the Jazz. He would not play in the second half and was replaced by Rodney Hood. Late in the fourth quarter Hayward’s absence was not missed as Hood would be one of the Jazz players that knocked down key shots in crunch time. Joe Ingles joined in the parade and knocked down two three-point shots late in the fourth quarter.
The veteran hero for the Jazz would be Joe Johnson again. Johnson would score 11 points in the fourth quarter on 5-of-7 seven shooting. Beyond the scoring, Johnson would also assist on the big threes from Hood and Ingles which amounted to nine additional points he scored or assisted on in the fourth quarter.
The Jazz continued to send two defense at Chris Paul in the second half in attempt to slow him down. Paul would finish with 27 points 10 assists and 9 rebounds. Jamal Crawford added 25 points to support the Clippers on the offense end.
With Gobert back in the line-up the Jazz have their defense anchor who will now have an advantage without Blake Griffin on the opposing end. The Clippers will be in Los Angeles for game five where they will attempt to go up 3-2 before coming back to Utah for game six.
Game five will be on Tuesday. Tip-off is a 10:30 PM EST on TNT.
