Hawks dominate Wizards for first win of the series

The Atlanta Hawks used their home-court advantage to formulate a 116-98 win over the Washington Wizards in their first-round series of the NBA Playoffs. The Hawks lead all the way and never looked back leading by as much as 25 points. Atlanta was led by their All-Star Paul Millsap who scored 29 points and Dennis Schroder who assisted with 27 points.

The 25-point lead came late in the first quarter in which showed the adjustments that the Hawks made and hot start that never faded throughout the game. For Washington they were led by none other than John Wall who scored 29 points on 10-of-12 shooting. His backcourt partner Bradley Beal however, had the worst game of the series thus far. Beal would finish with 12 points on 6-of-20 shooting.

The beef continued between the two teams as Markieef Morris and Paul Millsap exchanged words about each other in postgame interviews.

”He’s a crybaby,” Morris said afterward. ”You get all the calls when you’re a crybaby. That’s how it went tonight.”

Morris’ comments were relayed to Millsap at the postgame news conference.

”It definitely got personal now,” he replied, Millsap offer some advice to Morris: ”Take his loss and go back to the hotel, be ready for the next game.”

The Wizards would lose Otto Porter in the third quarter with a neck injury and would not return to the rest of the game. His status will be determined at a later time for game four.

The Hawks will look to tie up the series in game four which is on Monday night at 8:00 PM EST on TNT.
