According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, Derrick Rose is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The deal is reportedly worth $1.2 million dollars which is the veteran’s minimum.
Rose met with the Cavaliers Monday as the two parties reached a deal. He is coming off a season where he only played in 64 games due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. The former MVP played one season for the Knicks last year and averaged 18 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds.
The news comes after reports that Kyrie Irving has requested a trade from the Cavaliers. A shock to many and believed to have the same effect on LeBron James, the Rose signing gives reinforcements should the Cavaliers decide to trade their All-Star guard in Irving.
