Cleveland Cavaliers 2017-2018 Season Preview

Cleveland Cavaliers

Last Season: 51-31

2017-2018 Preview:

Cleveland was the story of the offseason with the trade demand made by Kyrie Irving than the trade of Kyrie Irving. From the outside looking in it would appear that Kyrie had lost his mind demanding a trade from a team with the best player in the world and an annual championship contender. For whatever reason Kyrie had to demand a trade he got his wish and now will have to prove he can lead a team. Cleveland got an extremely nice return for Kyrie in Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and Brooklyn’s 2018 1st Rd pick which is unprotected. With all the rumors of LeBron possibly leaving Cleveland after this season Cleveland’s front office has put the franchise in a position to be relevant if LeBron does happen to take his talents elsewhere. Top to bottom Cleveland has the deepest roster in the league and in my opinion the leagues best player. Jae Crowder will add toughness to this team and another perimeter defender to potentially throw at KD. Thomas does a lot of the same things Kyrie does but he is about half a foot shorter. Kyrie not known for his defensive ability was less of a liability than Isaiah Thomas will prove to be. Also, how will can Thomas play off the ball as LeBron tends to handle the ball often.  Ante Zizic has some talent and could prove to be a steal from the trade. Jeff Green and D Rose could potentially be huge pieces off the bench if they accept their respected roles. I look for the Cavs front office to use that Brooklyn pick to potentially add another Star to the Roster.

Key Additions: Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, Jeff Green, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade

Key Losses: Kyrie Irving, Deron Williams, Derrick Williams

2017-2018 Prediction: 56-26 1st in Central Division and Eastern Conference
